Why We Plant the Way We Do

A deeper look at the regenerative heart of our work

At Little Grove, every garden is a living invitation to remember that we belong to the web of life.

Our native plantings, habitat features, and regenerative design choices aren’t just beautiful—they serve a deeper purpose: to restore relationship.

When we tend a pollinator bed or watch birds return to a space we’ve helped heal, something shifts.

We begin to see ourselves not as separate from nature, but as part of its intelligence.

Our care becomes a contribution. Our presence becomes participatory.

The Earth doesn’t just need less harm—it needs active healing and rewilding.

Even if every extractive practice ended today, true restoration would still require human effort, creativity, and collaboration with other species.

When children grow up in relationship with the living world—tending it, observing it, building with it—they don’t just learn about ecology. They learn interconnection as a felt truth. That kind of embodied awareness prepares them to become the healers, stewards, and solution-holders the world needs.

Regenerative gardens offer a path toward that future. They teach us how to thrive with the world, not above it.

And as we learn the names, needs, and patterns of our local ecosystem, we start to recognize kin all around us—and remember our rightful role in the great unfolding.
